There are always an abundant list of tips and tricks when listing your home; anywhere from baking cookies or bread right before an open house or showing to vanilla on light bulbs. However, nothing is a better than tip #1) Pricing your home right. It’s the quickest and best way to have the traffic and find buyers.
Other ways that may help your home sell are:
Un-stuff your closets. Yes, large closets are super great, but don’t show potential buyers how much it holds by having your things crammed in. Space it out and pack many of your items. A cleared out closet shows the closet better than a full one.
Remove personal items throughout the house. The focus needs to be on the house and the potential buyer visualizing themselves in your home. Pack away your family photos, trophies and personal items. You’ll have less to pack later anyway.
Remove the pets. During open houses and showings. Food and toys may be a turn-off to buyers who are either allergic or don’t like pets. Some potential buyers may equate a pet with unseen pet stains (whether they are there or not) and feel the home is not clean.
Be show ready at all times. It IS difficult and life happens. However, it IS for a short time and then it’s on to your new home!! You’d hate to miss that ONE buyer ….
Look at your home’s exterior. Now is a great time to trim and clean it up. Potted plants and outdoor art are extremely inviting and welcoming. Give the greenery around your home a good spring trim and begin a regiment of keeping the weeds at bay – especially those creeping through the cement.
Make sure things are painted up and re-stained where needed. Never hurts to have a fresh coat of paint.
